B & D Industrial Services is one of the many businesses in the St. Paul and surrounding area that is rich in history, having been in business for over 30 years. Bernard Drolet started the auto repair shop in his backyard and his son, Doug, joined him with a mobile repair service. In 1986, they purchased a shop in St. Paul. Bernie repaired electrical and machined engine components, and Doug repaired light and heavy duty vehicles. Soon the shop got very busy and they expanded. They went from 4 employees to 8 employees and acquired another shop across the lot to accommodate all the parts they were having to stock.
To keep up with the demand, in 2008, they erected a building right next to their existing repair shop which became the parts and service department and 2 automotive repair bays on the backside. They hired more personnel to manage the busy parts and service department, and more technicians. The service department now hosts a customer lounge with beverages, a couch and television.
2011 has been a record year. B & D Industrial has been members of a franchise group for almost a decade and was awarded the Truck Pride Service Experts of the year Award which came about when the group inspected the new facility and noticed the changes in appearance, delivery of service to customers and the overall well managed system in place.
Their main focus is customer satisfaction. They provide free shuttles for their customers, free visual inspections for all vehicles booked in for service and when they get a chance, they like to leave candies, thank you notes or maybe even tidy up your vehicle.
Doug enjoys the duties of Shop Foreman. Doug’s daughter, Amanda, joined the team in 2005. She manages the operations of the business. In September 2013, Bernie lost his battle with cancer. He will be very well remembered for the legacy he left behind.
